Sunday, June 6, 2010

Kansas City Power & Light Company has nearly completed construction of Iatan 2, one of the cleanest and most efficient new coal-fired power plants in the country, and is entering the start-up and commissioning phase.

Participants of this tour will have an opportunity to see the latest supercritical plant technology up close and ask questions about the plant's state-of-the-art emissions control equipment.

All tour participants must arrive at the site dressed appropriately: steel-toed boots or other sturdy leather boot or shoe -- absolutely no tennis shoes, soft leather or cloth shoes or sandals. Also, no Capri pants, shorts, skirts or dresses, and shirt sleeve length must be at least 3".

Hardhats, safety vests, and eye and ear protection will be provided if needed. Again, it is imperative that proper footwear be worn to participate in the tour as this is an active construction site. Anyone who shows up without appropriate clothing and/or footwear will not be allowed to participate in the tour.
